Blue Byte GmbH is one of the pioneers of Germany's video game sector. Founded in 1988 and based in the Ruhr area, its business is the development of entertainment software. The game studio quickly grew into a German publisher with its own sales branches in Great Britain, the USA and Australia. Blue Byte produced two of the best known series in the history of Germany computer gaming:
THE SETTLERS® series and the Battle Isle™ saga. THE SETTLES - an award-winning series of building strategy games - sold millions of copies worldwide and celebrated its 10 year anniversary in 2003. ANNO has also been a part of the Blue Byte product range since 2007.
Blue Byte was acquired by Ubisoft in 2001, integrated into the international structure of the manufacturer and publisher and is now regarded as the absolute expert in strategy games in the global Ubisoft studio network.
Moreover, Blue Byte has also produced games with external partners such as the new edition of the classic SETTLERS 2: 10th ANNIVERSARY EDITION, THE SETTLERS for Nintendo DS, ANNO 1404/DAWN OF DISCOVERY and ANNO: CREATE A NEW WORLD for Nintendo Wii and DS.
